In vivo optical imaging is a scan technique that allows to visualize biological events non-invasively in life lab animals. Animal models of disease can be monitored by means of fluorescence (FLI) or bioluminescence (BLI) reporters. In vivo optical imaging in the mouse and rat is popular in preclinical drug discovery and can evaluate drug efficacy, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and biodistribution.
